The South Regional Round marked the conclusion of ConQuest 2024’s regional stages, following rounds in the North, West, and East. Now in its 8th edition, ConQuest Quiz is an annual constitutional education initiative by the Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR) and its ConstitutionofIndia.net project, aimed at promoting and sustaining a constitutional culture in India.

On November 30th, 45 three-member teams from various institutions competed at Ramaiah College of Law, Bengaluru – the South Regional Partner for ConQuest 2024. After a 20-question preliminary round, two teams from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and one team each from KLE Law College, the Indian Institute of Science, Christ University, and Ramaiah College of Law advanced to the regional finals.

The quiz covered topics ranging from historical events, such as the Munshi-Ayyangar formula on the Official Language issue in the Constituent Assembly, to contemporary developments like Shabnam Bano becoming the first transperson in a legislative assembly, and Sir Tanjore Madhava Rao’s role in shaping governance principles for Princely States.

NLSIU clinched first place, followed by KLE Law College in second, and another NLSIU team in third. The top two teams will compete in the National Finals on December 6th at Ramaiah College of Law, Bengaluru.

The event featured Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of the Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru, as the Guest of Honour who engaged with the finalists and student audience. Incidentally, Prof Rishikesha’s two great grandfathers were members of the Constituent Assembly: VT Krishnamachari and N Gopalaswami Ayyangar!

Next up – the GRAND FINALE on 06 December at Ramaiah Law College!
